Rome Fiumicino best hub in Europe. For the ninth year in a row, the Italian airport tops the EU ranking.
“Leonardo da Vinci” once again confirmed as European benchmark for quality and passenger services at the 2025 ACI World ASQ Customer Experience Awards. The airport’s sustainable development plan is ready to move forward. Ciampino ‘G.B. Pastine’ Airport was also awarded in the 2-5 million passenger category.

Fiumicino, 24 February 2026 – For the ninth consecutive year, Rome Fiumicino’s “Leonardo da Vinci” Airport has confirmed its position at the top in Europe for the quality of services offered to passengers in the large hub category with over 40 million passengers. The recognition comes from Airports Council International (ACI) World through the 2025 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Customer Experience Awards, which also honoured Rome Ciampino’s “Giovan Battista Pastine” Airport for the third consecutive year in the category of airports handling between 2 and 5 million passengers. With these two new achievements, the global positioning of Rome’s airport system, managed by Aeroporti di Roma – a Mundys Group company – is further strengthened, underscoring the need to implement the “Leonardo da Vinci” Airport Development Plan, which is crucial to ensuring service standards and capacity aligned with future demand.

The Airport Service Quality survey, an international study measuring airport customer experience conducted by Airports Council International (ACI) World, was based this year on evaluations expressed by more than 700,000 passengers across over 30 indicators at nearly 400 airports worldwide. With a record score of 4.64 (on a rating scale from 1 to 5), Rome Fiumicino ranked first among all 124 European airports  and won across all award categories: in addition to Best Airport, it confirmed recognition for Most Dedicated Staff, Easiest Airport Journey, Most Enjoyable Airport and Cleanest Airport in Europe, excelling in customer experience across the entire passenger journey, from efficiency and hospitality to cleanliness and overall comfort. Ciampino, meanwhile, was awarded Best Airport in the 2–5 million passenger category and Most Dedicated Staff.

‘This award is further concrete confirmation of the daily commitment of our people and the entire airport community,’ said Marco Troncone, CEO of Aeroporti di Roma. ‘In recent years, we have consolidated a position of excellence in Europe in terms of service quality and today we are competitive in a market that has become fully global. With traffic demand continuing to grow, confirming European leadership for the ninth consecutive year also means taking on an even greater responsibility: continuing to invest in innovation, processes and infrastructure. To ensure high travel standards and support rising demand – which in 2025 already brought us to a record of over 55 million passengers across Fiumicino and Ciampino – a medium- to long-term vision for infrastructure development is essential. This is why we consider it fundamental and urgent to continue along the path set out in our Airport Development Plan: a choice that can no longer be postponed if we want to strengthen the country’s international connectivity, support tourism and the economy, and further establish Leonardo da Vinci Airport as a strategic platform for global transit flows.’

‘This ASQ Customer Experience Award from ACI demonstrates the trust travellers place in Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino, and reinforces their position as top airports in the region for customer experience excellence. It reflects ADR team’s commitment to improving every step of the passenger journey.’ declared Justin Erbacci, Director General of ACI World.

The announcement of these important recognitions for the two Rome airports will be celebrated at an awards ceremony scheduled to take place during the ACI World Airport Experience Summit, which will be held from 31 August to 4 September in Istanbul, Turkey.
